Zero, on a sentiment scale, is more a rhetorical place than a habitable one: nobody lives there, but there are days when the market comes close enough to read the sign. The session of June 8, 2026 was one of those days. The market's mood pressed against the floor of the instrument — and what turns the record into an episode is that capital did not follow it down. In numbers: the Ânima Index read 1.8, the bottom of the scale, and the Perene Risk Index held neutral, at 43.

What happened next

The gap did not close; it changed size. The next day, the Flow rose to 53 — the first visible separation in weeks, the daily noted — with Mood barely leaving 2.0, the floor of the scale. On June 11, Mood reached 14, still at the bottom, and the Flow, 62. By the close of the month, the two axes had traveled very different distances: the Ânima at 23.2, far from near-zero without leaving deep pessimism; the Perene Risk at 81.7, already in risk-appetite territory. The June memorandum recorded that the two are rarely so far apart.

The easy reading

The easy reading said that a mood two points from zero announces surrender — and the surrender never came. Capital did not come down to validate the gloom: in the archive's records, it went from the neutral zone to appetite. The symmetric reading failed too: mood did not rise to meet the flow. And the domestic regime crossed June without changing its name — defensive, with a score of 28.7 at the close.

The honest verdict

The archive claims no record: 1.8 was the bottom of the scale visited that day, nothing more. What remained was the distance — feeling one thing, doing another — and the limitation the monthly itself records: configurations like this have had heterogeneous resolutions, with no typical path. The near-zero was not the news. Capital's refusal to confirm it was.
